When Is the Best Time to Book Family Photos in the PNW?
Most common question:: “When should we book our family photos?” Timing matters — not just because of weather, but because photographers’ calendars fill quickly.
PNW offers something wonderful each season:
Spring (April–June)
Spring brings greenery, flowers, and softer light. It’s perfect for families who love flower, lush green fields and mild temperatures. This season books early due to school schedules and unpredictable rain.
Summer (July–September)
Summer is the most popular time for family photos. It’s gorgeous! Longer daylight, warm evenings, and consistent weather make it ideal — especially for families with school-aged kids. Summer sessions often book 3–6 months in advance.
Fall (October–November)
Fall is stunning in the PNW with warm tones and golden light. Because the season is short, fall dates are usually the first to sell out.
Winter (December–February)
Winter sessions offer cozy, intimate photos — think in-home sessions or misty outdoor landscapes. Availability is often better, and winter is perfect for families wanting something unique.
So… When Should You Book?
As a general rule:
Spring & Summer sessions: Book January–March
Fall sessions: Book by late spring or early summer
Winter sessions: Book 1–2 months ahead
Booking early gives you more flexibility with dates and dates! I look forward to hearing from you!
